Balandra Bay
During another windless day I went back to Balandra Bay to kayak around the mangroves and explore the area. I found one bird in the mangroves but other than that, they weren’t very interesting. Citlali was working a tour so I paddled over to the beach where their group had stopped for lunch and enjoyed a beer with them. I then paddled over to the famous Mushroom Rock (“El Hongo”) and called it a day.
TODOS SANTOS
Citlali and I took a tiny road trip back down to Todos Santos for the Tropic of Cancer Music Festival and then the next day we did some hiking around a craggy stretch of cliffs along the Pacific. We spotted some whales and I flew the drone around some more hoping to catch ariel shots of the giants of the sea. I had no luck. But I got some amazing footage of the mighty Pacific pounding against the rock and could see the last remaining wall of Todos Santos’s “Puerto Viejo” (Old Port)
At the end of the hike there is an abandoned cannery structure that was rapidly decaying. I loved all of the geometrical shapes of the columns and shadows from the high sun so I took plenty of pictures and flew the drone. As I was setting up a drone shot, I got a little too close to a pillar and crashed it! Luckily all it took was $60 of parts to fix the gimbal.
Unfortunely, I was not recording when I crashed it. That would have been a funny blooper reel.
KITEBOARDING BONUS
I also finally acquired all of my kite gear and made this little diddy about how to rig your kite before riding the wind! Next Baja post will have some more shots of me actually kiting, stay tuned.
